What does AL-HQ Law & More stand for?

A and L is from the Arabic term adl - meaning justice, we are advocates of justice. H and Q is from the Arabic term haqq - meaning truth, we are seekers of truth. Our services adhere to legal frameworks, we are scholars of law.

What legal services do you offer and what are the fees?

Our legal services cover the full spectrum of estate planning services from Digital Wills starting at £75 and Digital Lasting Powers of Attorney from £120, to advice and consultation-led Wills starting from £150 (our Express Service) and our SRA Regulated Service through law firms with a starting fee of £350 plus VAT. We also provide legal support and guidance through our advice centre and law clinic initiatives to support everyday people with everyday legal matters using faith-inspired guidance, this is a free service for community users to be empowered with practical legal solutions.

What kind of legal practice are you?

We do not follow the traditional office based hourly rate billing system. We are a fully insured and independent UK based legal practice complying with all regulatory codes and covering all non-reserved areas of law, we collaborate with law firms who are forward thinking, innovative and offer unbundled legal services and fixed fee options like we do. We operate on a consultancy model, aiming to be digitally powered, paperless and accessible globally.

What is the difference between an English Will and an Islamic Will?

The legal framework requirements for a valid English Will and a valid Islamic Will are identical as all Wills must follow the law of the land to be legally valid and binding. The key difference is in the content, where an English/Welsh Will is following one's own personal interests and wishes, it should be noted that an Islamic Will or any other faith based Will is seeking to adhere to the religious post-death wishes of the individual, as such it is important to have an expert qualified in both Islamic Law and English Law to ensure all aspects are discussed, advised upon and incorporated in the correct legal manner within the Will itself.

Do you provide work experience?

We are keen supporters of those entering the legal profession and provide opportunities for second and third year law students to become Student Ambassadors to gain commercial and practical skills which provide a CV boost for employability prospects, for those seeking to become qualified solicitors we also share resources and information on suitable pathways which avoid interest-bearing loans and student-debt.
